Leo Club
Meaning of LEO
The acronym LEO stands for Leadership, Opportunity, and Experience.
RRSS Leos fully understands the meaning of leadership by being given the opportunity and experience in organizing projects & activities inside and outside the school compound.
Sponsoring Lions Club
Leo Clubs is a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. Leo Clubs are initiated and sponsored by a Lions Club.
The Lions Club of Miri Mandarin initiated & sponsored the RRSS Leo Club.
Year RRSS LEO club was started: 1980
Projects & Activities
Our projects comprise service projects and fundraising projects.
Some of our service projects are as follows:
A) Educational projects :
1. Donation of books to the school library
2. Donation of stationeries to less privileged RRSS students
3. Donation of laptops to the school
4. Donation of LCD projectors to the school
5. Donation of mobile wireless speakers to the school
6. Helping the school with History exhibition
7. Donation of old glossy magazines to Pibakis Lutong, visiting and helping with handicraft at PIBAKIS Miri
8. Reading activities in conjunction with World Book Day
9. Participating in Leo leadership training events
10. Donation of hose and watering tools to the school
11. Donation of laminating machine to the school
B) Environmental and community projects/services:
1. Interclass contest in collecting old newspapers and aluminium cans for recycling purposes
2. Leo garden maintenance
(i) Mini cacti & succulents cum air plants corner
(ii) Big Leo garden
(iii) Lions Park in our school compound
(iv) Hydroponics garden
3. Beach cleanings with our sponsoring Lions Club of Miri Mandarin
4. Senior citizens project: Chinese New Year visit to Miri Home for the Aged
5. Projects for less privileged rural students during our annual Merdeka Cheer project
6. Christmas gifts project for the special children from PDK( Lutong)
7. Volunteering at KTS charity car wash
8. Volunteering on White Cane Day featuring Eye Specialist Dr. Chieng
9. Donation to Miri Methodist Children's Home
10. Donation to Miri Home for the Aged
11. Project in collaboration with H&M COMPANY to purchase socks and school uniforms for Chung San Primary School’s needy students
12. Donation to Tzu Chi (clothing, bags, and shoes) to help the needy
13. Special children's welfare project in collaboration with Miri Marriot Resort and Spa. Purchase Christmas gifts for children from MRCS Sunflower Centre Miri & Miri General Hospital Children’s ward
14. Volunteering to help the school with Goodwill visits
15. Volunteering in Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) Cooking Competition
16. Repurposing old red packets creatively
17. Collecting waste paper for recycling project in the line with environmental sustainable
18. Old clothes collection project in collaboration with SUPP during Riam Community Chinese New Year Gathering
19. In conjunction with the Earth Hour Event, Leos were encouraged to turn off all lights for an hour to help save the World
20. Recycling of recyclable items (paper, aluminium tins, clothes, broken tables and chairs)
21. 2nd-hand clothes donation to Malaysian Red Crescent Miri 3R Centre
22. 3R Flower Planting Projects
23. Detergent Bottle Repurposing Projects
24. Making eco-bricks to reduce plastic waste
25. Donation of sundry items to an animal shelter

3) Participation in Leo Camps
4) Participation in Leo Forums
5) Chinese New Year visit to Lion’s house
6) Cooking competition with the Blind and Visually Impaired
7) Christmas party with Lions
8) Mid-Autumn Festival BBQ party at school
9) Organising activities such as painting and singing in conjunction with the National Day
E) Achievements in the annual District 308-A2 Leo clubs competition:
Since fiscal year 2010/2011 we have been one of the Leo clubs that have received the highest club award, winning Top President, Top Secretary, and Top Treasurer Awards.
In the fiscal year 2022/2023, our club was the only club in District 308-A2 to have won the Leo Club Excellence Awards by LCIF under the leadership of Leo Nicole Voon ( President), Leo Dorena Ling ( Secretary) and Leo Sammy Lau ( Treasurer).

Red Crescent Club
Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia Sekolah Menengah Persendirian Jalan Riam diuruskan oleh dua orang guru penasihat iaitu Puan Angela dan Puan Dorina. Ahli kelab adalah seramai 35 orang pelajar. Objektif penubuhan kelab ini adalah untuk memberi peluang kepada pelajar melibatkan diri dalam aktiviti yang telah dirancang. Ini akan memberikan keseronokan kepada pelajar dan memberi peluang kepada pelajar untuk bergaul dan memenuhi masa lapang dengan aktiviti yang berfaedah. Selain itu, menanam nilai kesihatan dan kecergasan dalam diri pelajar.
Pengajaran dan pembelajaran ilmu pertolongan cemas akan membolehkan pelajar berkemahiran untuk menolong diri dan orang lain, menanam semangat bekerjasama, tanggungjawab, taat setia dan cintakan sekolah dan negara. Aktiviti yang diadakan dapat mencungkil dan memupuk bakat kepimpinan di kalangan pelajar dalam pengurusan unit dalam pertubuhan di sekolah, memupuk tali persahabatan di antara ahli-ahli. Melalui aktiviti latihan kawad dan pertandingan, pelajar dapat mematuhi peraturan, undang-undang dan disiplin.
