Student leadership lies at the heart of improving our school and enabling our young people to realise their potential. Riam Road Secondary School provides equal opportunity for students to develop themselves holistically. The Prefectorial Board and Student Council offers great platform for our students to develop their leadership capabilities.
Both the prefects and the student councillors play important roles in the operation of the school. They are assigned with various responsibilities to ensure the school is in good order. They also assist teachers in keeping good students’ discipline. Apart from that, they are also tasked with organising various important school fund raising activities such as the Lion Dance performances, the school concert and the food fair.
The exposure to the variety of activities enable our students to develop social skills, confidence and motivation as they engage directly in the wider improvement of the school and, in particular, in the improvement of the learning experience.
Student leadership enables students to become advocates for their own needs and the needs of others. It lies at the heart of building as sense of community and trust in the school and builds effective relationships. Our student leaders are committed to the responsibilities entrusted to them, and discharge their duties with pride and honour. Student leadership is fundamental to positive school climate.
Thus, at Riam Road Secondary School, we invest in student leadership as it is a direct investment in tomorrow’s leaders of our school and our community.
